When local business owner Don Monet from Cube Gallery asked if we would participate in NOCTURNE V, an art show and festival dedicated to the night sky, we jumped at the opportunity! As an Ottawa-based company, Leapfrog Lighting is a proud supporter of our local community.

The Wellington Village festival features a “Nocturne” group art exhibit, which includes works from artists, sculptors, scientists, and astronomers who find inspiration in the stars.

The main attraction, which will be attended by Leapfrog, is the street-wide Star Party:

According to Mr. Monet, the Star Party features “telescopes, videos and star viewing courtesy of members of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) and is held on the first private street in Canada to vote unanimously to turn off their own house and streetlights for this night sky event!”

Mr. Monet is estimating attendance of up to 6000 at the Star Party event alone, all enjoying the majesty of the night sky—light-free. “It’s such an environmentally-friendly event too”, says Mr. Monet. “Businesses, residents, and the City of Ottawa will all experience a significant reduction in energy use during the Star Party”.

The festival runs between July 2-14, 2013 at Cube Gallery – 1285 Wellington St. W, Ottawa.
